Did you ever ask how many? It’s a sensitive question. Revealing how
many sexual partners you’ve had leaves you open to judgment. You
may ask the question but not be able to handle the answer.

And it’s not easy to find out how many people women sleep with ---
women (and men) are notorious for bending the truth when asked that
personal question.

But we’ve done the research so you don’t have to wonder any more.
Have you had more or less than the average? What’s normal and what
is off-the-scale? Is your girlfriend more experienced than her
compatriots?

Here are the secrets of women’s romantic lives revealed, country by
country.

Global Averages: Which Countries Have Most Sexual Partners?

The average number of sexual partners for women in the countries we
studied ranges from 2 in India, to 3.6 in the United States, to a
relatively large 9 in Canada.

But which country had the highest average number? We looked at
recent studies from global institutions to find out the numbers across
the globe.

1.
In the United States

Women in the United States claim an average of 3.6 sexual partners in
their lifetime, according to data from the National Health Statistics
Reports, 2011. This figure is a little over half the amount of sexual
partners men report having throughout their life. The data is for
women aged between 25 to 44 years of age.

Three percent of women in America have had zero sexual partners
since the age of 18 (Laumann, Gagnon, Michael, Michaels, 1994). The
other end of the scale? The percentage of women aged 15 to 44 who
report having had more than 15 sex partners is 9 percent.

2.
In the United Kingdom

Traveling across the pond, the 2013 National Survey of Sexual
Attitudes and Lifestyles (Natsal) published in the Lancet shows women
have 7.7 sexual partners in their lifetime.

This figure has more than doubled since the first set of survey data in
1990/1991, when the figure was 3.7 partners. Researchers at
University College London and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical
Medicine interviewed 15,162 people aged 16-74 living in Britain
between 2010 and 2012.

3. In Australia

The answer is a little different depending who you ask in Australia. In
the 2008 book “Sex Lives of Australian Women” by Joan Sauers, the
average Australian woman has 13 sexual partners in their life. These
figures were taken from an online poll. However, according to The
Durex Global Sexual Wellbeing Survey, 2014, the average Australian gal
has 11 partners on average.

4.
In Canada

Canadians may have the reputation for being somewhat reserved and
even prudish, but survey results suggest differently.

The 2013 Playtex Fresh + Sexy survey conducted by Playtex and
Environics Research Group discovered that the average was a less
bashful 9 partners for women. The online survey of 1,003 adults, aged
between 18 and 49, was weighted to reflect the population.

5.
In India

Information on sexual partners in India is rather less forthcoming than
for many other countries. However, according to the 2005 Global Sex
Survey by condom makers Durex, women have on average three sexual
partners in their lifetime. This is one of the lowest reported figures in
the world.

6.
In South Africa

Controversy abounds in South Africa, where a 2007 study by the
Women's Health Research Unit, University of Cape Town reports that
women have two sexual partners in their life.

However, there is a lack of reliable data for sexual behavior in the
country as hardly any information was collected before 2000, and
when it is available it is widely affected by people failing or not wanting
to remember or report their actual sexual behavior, according to a
2009 study reported in the journal Demographic Research.

7.
In Ireland

Women in Ireland count seven sexual partners as their average,
compared to an average of 10 for men, according to the 2013
Herald/Today FM Behaviour and Attitudes survey. Women living
outside of the capital Dublin reported fewer sexual partners than those
living in the city.

8.
In New Zealand

And finally, the results of a 2011 study supposedly reveal the country
where women sleep with the most men – New Zealand. According to
the poll, women sleep with 13.3 partners in their life.

The Otago multi-disciplinary study has looked at 1,000 people since
their birth in Dunedin in 1973. However, the survey actually shows that
half of the women had eight or fewer partners while a small, active
group pushed the number up.  But other studies reveal more: a study
by Durex revealed Kiwi women had an average of 20.4 partners. The
women's total was the highest in the world.
